Montrose - David Bushee, age 38, passed away Nov. 18, 2009 of a massive heart attack in Northglenn, Colo.

David was born in Walnut Creek, Calif., on July 1, 1971 to Judy and Bill Bushee. At age 2, his parents divorced and David (with his mother and sister) moved to Thornton, Colo. At age 7, David and family moved to Lafayette, Colo. David played Little League football, softball and soccer for the next four years, where he received many trophies. At the age of 9, David won the prestigious "Johnny Manzanares" trophy for outstanding best sportsmanship for the year. David continued playing soccer for two more years. After his 13th birthday, he moved to Montrose, Colo. when his mother, Judy married Jim Landon. David attended Centennial Junior High and graduated from Montrose High School in 1989, where he lettered in soccer.

When you saw David those years in junior high and high school you also saw his buddies, they were Kirk James, Travis Wright and Kevin Dick and many other friends. David enlisted in the Air Force between his junior and senior year so as soon as he graduated, he was off to basic training in Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.? He went to tech school in Aurora, Colo., at Buckley AFB. He was stationed in Albuqerque, N.M. when he became engaged to the love of his life, Melanie Deltondo. As soon as Melanie graduated from Fort Lewis College, they were married in St. Mary's Church in Montrose on May 21, 1994.?

They resided in Albuquerque, at Kirtland AFB for 6 months and they were transferred to Getty Air Base (NATO base) in Montichiari, Italy for two years where they traveled extensively before returning to Albuquerque for six years. Their beautiful baby boy, Daxton John, was born there on Jan. 7, 2000. They were transferred to Cheyenne, Wyo. at F.E. Warren AFB where they were blessed with a baby girl, Darriann Jane on April 23, 2004. In 2004 they were transferred to Peterson Field in Colo. Springs until he retied as a master sergeant.?

David's passion was fishing, any given weekend you could find him at a fishing hole. He taught his children how to fish.

The marriage ended in 2007 but Melanie remains the love of his life and the four of them continued to do things as a family.

At Halloween this year they went trick-or-treating as the four seasons!

While in the Air Force, David received many awards including many Airman of the Quarter and two Airman of the year, NCO of the quarter and NCO of the year. David also received letters and trophies for his outstanding work in his field.

David has a special sense of humor; he could imitate any comedian and just crack you up, no matter how low you were feeling, he could always make you laugh.

His sister, Michelle, and him would go anywhere to do karaoke; they were quite a pair. David continued to be a karaoke king, taking Melanie to places where they had Karaoke wherever they were stationed!

David passed away in Northglenn, Colo. leaving behind friends, Niki, Sharon, John, Paul, Darren and David. He also will leave many, many friends with a heavy heart.

David is survived by his children, Daxton John, 9, and Darriann Jane, 5; his former wife, Melanie Deltondo Bushee; his parents, Judy and Jim Landon; his sister, Michelle, and her daughters, David's special nieces, Haylee and Alison Martin and "Grams" Nettie Landon; a half-sister, Shannon Bushee, of Oklahoma and her children; three step- siblings, Glen Landon and his son, James, Bill (Rhonda) Landon and their children Jessica and Justin and Linda (Darrell) LaRoche and their daughters, Sophia and Annika.
