William G. Adkins, 89, died Monday, January 25, 2016, at his residence.

Mr. Adkins was born September 22, 1926, in Gollihue, Kentucky, a son of the late Harry Adkins and Bertha Davis Adkins.

Mr. Adkins was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a Mason, Coal Valley Lodge #74 of Montgomery, WV, a Shriner, Beni Kedem Temple of Charleston, WV, a member of the York Rite, and a member of the Eastern Star Winyah 148 in Georgetown, SC. He was a retired manager with Imperial Colliery Coal Company who enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.

He was survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Lou Adkins; a daughter, Rita A. (Al) Hutchinson of Pawleys Island; two grandchildren, Tara (Steve) Clemmons of North Myrtle Beach and Tawnya (Duncan) Sherer of Myrtle Beach; three great grandchildren, Harrison, Carter, and Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Harry Adkins Jr. and Gaylord Adkins.

Funeral services, with masonic rites and military honors, were Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
