Charles D. Ritchie, 83, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away on Saturday January 23, 2016, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on November 3, 1932, in Harrisonburg, VA, he was one of 14 children born to the late William and Mae (Strauderman) Ritchie. On December 4, 1954, he was united in marriage with the former Helen C. Zubrickie, with whom he has shared a blessed union of 61 years.
When called upon, he faithfully entered the United States Navy in 1950 to serve in the Korean War, and was assigned to the USS Robert H. McCard (DD-822). Following his honorable discharge, he learned the ceramic tile and flooring trade. For several years he owned and operated his own business, and later was employed by Mid-Atlantic Flooring. After his retirement in 1994, he was a Volunteer Steward for the Linglestown Fire Co. He was also a member of American Legion Post #272, where he had another family of friends, and St. Thomas United Church of Christ, Linglestown. Charles always felt the greatest accomplishment of his life was his family; all of whom he loved very much.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Helen C. (Zubrickie) Ritchie.
