Sandra (Cunningham) Champion, 68, of Sylacauga, Alabama died on January 23, 2016 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anne Cunningham; and brother, John Cunningham. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, four sons, fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister-in-law, two nieces, and two nephews. She was born in Talladega, Alabama in 1947. She attended Jonesview Elementary School and Winterboro High School, prior to moving to Munford, Alabama where she graduated from Munford High School in 1965. She went on to graduate from Gadsden State Community college with her Associate Degree and later completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Family and Consumer Science at the University of Montevallo. After beginning her teaching career with Talladega County Board of Education, she went on to complete Master's Degrees in Special Education and Administration. She worked in several capacities with the Talladega County School System including Special Education Teacher, Career Technical School Counselor, and Career Technical School Administrator. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and served approximately 30 years in ministry with her husband, Sonny Champion, who pastored many churches prior to his retirement in 2015. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. January 26, 2016 at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega, Alabama.
