Benjamin H. Lane

Mt. Juliet, TN

Benjamin H. Lane, 82, passed away January 7, 2016, in Mt. Juliet, TN. Ben was a longtime resident of Clinton, MS, prior to moving to Mt. Juliet, TN, in 2006.

Ben was born April 2, 1933, in Flora, MS, to the late, Almus and Annye Leigh Lane. Upon graduation from Flora High School, Ben proudly served in the Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, he returned home and graduated from Mississippi College in 1959. Ben began his career as an underwriter with Allstate Insurance Company, spent many years working for National General Insurance and retired as Executive Vice President from Gulf Guaranty Insurance, all in the Jackson area.

Ben and wife, Carolyn were longtime members of First United Methodist Church of Clinton, MS, where he served many years as a greeter and usher. Ben was a true gentleman, who taught his children and grandchildren well by providing an example of always doing what is right. He also had a playful side, and we will forever remember him for having fun with us as our "Poppy."

He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn James Lane; brother, Forrest Lane; sister, Anne Roberts; and daughter, Debra Pace. Survivors include daughters, Donna (Steve) Lewis of Clinton, MS, and Leigh (Jonathan) Brydalski of Mt. Juliet, TN; sister, Sylvia (Johnny) Riley of Flora, MS; and beloved grandchildren, Brenton (Holly) Lewis of Brandon, MS; Kellye (David) McMillan of Clinton, MS; and Casey and Julia Brydalski of Mt. Juliet, TN.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 30th at 10:00 AM at the Flora Cemetery in Flora, MS.
