Dennis Wheeler, 60, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center.

Dennis was born December 28, 1955 in Des Moines to Eugene and Mary Wheeler.
He served in the United States Air Force. Dennis had worked for Ryko Manufacturing for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and sports and was an avid Hawkeye fan. Dennis coached his children’s Little League baseball and softball teams. He liked riding his Harley and was a member of the Patriot Guard. Dennis was a terrific grandpa and loved spending time with his grandkids.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, LouAnn; children, Andrea Goode and Joshua (Calla Bondhus) Wheeler; step-children, TJ (Ann) Schaffer, Amy (Nolan) Finnegan and Matt (Diana) Schaffer; grandchildren, Jordan, Jon, Emma, Allie, Gwen, Cecelia, Carson, Ellie, Matilynn and Shane; mother, Mary Wheeler; brothers, Steve Wheeler, Eugene (Jamie) Wheeler and Craig (Lori) Wheeler; many nieces, nephews and extended family; and many, many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Wheeler.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Road followed by burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
