Note: Separating Susannah Gambill Patterson and Susanna Fisher Nash LeGrand
Some researchers seem to think that Susannah Gambill was Susanna Fisher Nash. However, this is not true. Susanna Nash was a much younger woman. She was the daughter of John Nash and Elizabeth Fisher of Prince Edward County, Virginia. John and Elizabeth were married 24 August 1757, Essex County Virginia. (Marriage Records for Essex County.) John Nash died in 1801 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. Susanna Fisher Nash is named in his will. (Will of John Nash, Sr.; Prince Edward County, Virginia; Will Book 3; 1795 to 1807, page 225) Later that same year on November 12, 1801, Susanna married Peter LeGrand in Prince Edward County. A marriage record can be found in Prince Edward County. (Virginia Marriages 1785 - 1940; FamilySearch; 12 October 1801; Susannah F. Nash to Peter LeGrand) Peter and Susanna LeGrand did come to Rutherford County, Tennessee. Susanna died before December 5, 1820 because on that date Peter LeGrand married Anne Coleman in Davidson County, Tennessee. (Tennessee County Marriages, 1790 to 1950, page 229; 5 December 1820, Davidson County, Tennessee; Peter LeGrand to Anna Coleman)
