BEATRICE ILEENE MENSING, age 89, of Blue Earth, died Saturday, January 23, 2016, at United Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016, at 1:00 PM, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rural Elmore, with Rev. Joel Lintner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Beatrice was born December 4, 1926, at the farm in Elmore Township, the daughter of Edward and Meta (Boettcher) Kienitz. She was baptized on December 25, 1926, attended St John's Parochial School, and confirmed May 12, 1940 at St. John Lutheran Church. She graduated as salutatorian from Elmore High School in 1944. On July 28, 1946 she married Arnold Carl Mensing at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elmore.

Beatrice worked following high school at the ration office during the war. She worked with Arnold on the farm in Elmore Township and later worked in the offices of State Farm Insurance, American Family Insurance, Frost/Blue Earth Medical Center and Hospice. She was a long time volunteer with the hospice program.

Bea taught both Sunday School and Release Time Classes. She was in 4-H and sang with a quartet at the state fair, volunteered as a 4-H leader, LWML officer and member, and volunteer with Blue Earth UHD Hospice.

Bea loved to garden, sew, and cook.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Irene) Mensing of Blue Earth, son, Philip (Corrine) Mensing of Elmore, daughter, Brenda (Tim) Bauer of Fargo, ND, 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Jean Mensing, husband, Arnold, grandson, Danny Mensing, sister, Verna Golay, and her parents.
