WEST HYANNISPORT - Katherine E. Sullivan, of West Hyannisport, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016.
She was the wife of the late Cornelius L. Sullivan
Born in Brookline on June 3, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Christina (Browne) McCarthy and Thomas P. McCarthy. Katherine had nine brothers and sisters who pre-deceased her. They were William, Mary (Sister Octavia CSJ), Thomas, John, Christina (Sister Magdalen CSJ), Ita, Ann Cotton, Josephine Greska and Joseph. She is survived by three daughters: Christina Crowe (Linda Glenn) of Provincetown, Mass., M. Judith (Arthur G.) Porelle of Crystal River, Fla., and Cornelia (Eldowayne) Kalima of Honolulu, Hawaii; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Among her many beloved nieces and nephews are Mary Cotton and Patricia Comeau of Centerville, Mass.
A registered nurse who graduated from Mass Women’s Hospital School of Nursing and attended Boston College, she worked in several healthcare facilities during her career, including the Deaconess and Lemuel Shattuck Hospitals. Her profession, her family and her faith were the passions that sustained her for one hundred years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 S. Main St., Centerville, MA 02632. Internment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville, Mass.
