Phillip Stanley, 68, went to be with the Lord (Friday January 22nd, 2016) He passed away peacefully at his residence in Duffield, Virginia.

Phillip was born in Kingsport and raised in Mabe, Virginia. He was a 1966 graduate of Rye Cove High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

On March 12, 1977 he married his loving wife of 38 years Peggy Ann Pope.

Phillip was a dedicated member of Thomas Village Baptist Church.

He retired as an electrician from VFP, Inc in 2008. He enjoyed fishing and all sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ruth Stanley; brothers, Claude and Cecil Stanley; sisters, Mary Ruth Tipton and Marie Jessee; infant sister, Juanita; brothers in law, Ralph Carter, Glenn Daughtery, Howard Tipton and sister in law, Bertha Stanley.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 7pm Tuesday (January 26th, 2016) at Thomas Village Baptist Church, Duffield. A service will follow at 7pm with Pastor Garry Edwards and Darrell Fletcher officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am Wednesday (January 27th, 2016) at the Hall Cemetery in Mabe where military graveside rites will be presented by the American Legion Post 3/265 assisted by the Virginia National Guard.

Those who plan to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10am to follow in procession.
