John Walter Fetty, 91, died Sunday (July 24, 2011) in San Diego.

John “Walter” was born Dec. 3, 1919 near Hagans. John Walter Fetty’s parents were Elmer and Maude Fetty of Hagans.

John Walter attended Hagans School and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1938 and was a member of Hagans Christian Church and later Pleasant Valley Chapel Methodist Church.

He served in the Army during World War II, where he was stationed in the Pacific Theater of combat. He later resided in Pleasant Valley near Fairmont with his family and was a salesperson for grocery businesses and owned two gas stations in Fairmont. He later moved to San Diego after the death of his wife, Doris.

John Walter survived his wife, Doris Price Fetty, in 1993.

A family burial will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover preceding a memorial service. The memorial service will be held at Hagans Christian Church at 7 p.m. Tuesday. All friends and family are invited in remembrance of our beloved father.
