Charlotte Smith was b 31 Mar 1795, North Haven, the d/o Jonathan Smith, Jr & Lydia Woster. She d 25 June 1884, North Haven.

Charlotte married Capt William Thomas on 27 Nov 1821, North Haven, married by David Woster, Jr. William was b 19 Sept 1791, Lincolnville, Me, the s/o Joshua Thomas, Jr & Mary Burgess. He d 23 Feb 1885, North Haven.

Their children Omar (ae 24, mariner), Cynthia (ae 33, school teacher), Mariah (ae 27, milliner) and David (ae 20, mariner) are living with them. Also with them is Jonathan Manchester ae 60, a fisherman. Note:** Cynthia is also found in the same census with sister Mary Ann who married Joseph Otis Amsbury with Quincy, Ma. Cynthia cites in that particular census that she was a school teacher.

In 1880, 87-year-old William & 85-year-old Charlotte are farming on North Haven. Living with them are daughters Cynthia A (ae 52, public school teacher) & Maria (ae 45, dress maker & milliner). Neither Cynthia nor Maria ever married.

William, Charlotte and children Cynthia, Maria, Nathaniel and "L" (daughter? are buried in Kiah's Creek Cemetery. All of their markers are made of wood. "Some say Mahogany or some similar enduring wood such as is used in shipbuilding.
