Gilbert “Gil” White, age 86, a recent resident of Rockwall, TX, passed away December 21, 2016. He was born December 20, 1929, in Winchester, IN, to Howard David and Laura Jean (Crawford) White. He was raised in Winchester and lived there up until he left to attend Butler University. Gil was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War, and he enjoyed his time in Alaska. He was a volunteer firefighter in Indiana for many years and was a machinist in the oil pipeline industry. He was a good Christian man that loved to read his Bible and he loved his family, his dear wife, Virginia, and spending time with his grandchildren. Gil was a skilled craftsman that loved working with his hands, including building furniture, and he could fix anything. His hobbies included motorcycles, cars and reading. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, sports and spending time at his beach house in Gilchrist, TX. He was a quiet and contented man.

He is survived by his loving wife: Virginia (Locke) White; children: Teresa White and husband Kevin, Michael White, Tanya Reed and Timothy White and Terry; grandchildren: Billy Hutslar, Vicki Hutslar, Julie Gardner, Ginny Virgne, Matthew White, Charlie Reed, Lisa Clifton and Aaron White; and sister: Beverly Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00pm
