James Clarence "Junior" Freer, Jr., passed away on January 23, 2016 at St. John's Place in Fordyce.

He was born on October 31, 1920 in Ivan, Arkansas.

Junior and was a retired business man. He served on the Dallas County Quorum Court for 36 years, leaving the position in 2013 at the age of 93. In 2010 he received the Community Service Award in recognition of his loyal service on the Dallas County Quorum Court.

He was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, a Mason, and a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy in the Seabees. He was on the transport ship USS Shermont during the invasion of Okinawa and spent time in the Aluetian Islands.

Junior was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Freer; a grandson James Craig Freer; a son-in-law, Glen Brandon; his parents, James C. Freer, Sr. and Debbie Lum-Freer; three brothers: Charlie Freer, Billy Joe Freer, and James Freer; three sisters: Lavelda Raney, Maggie Riggan, and Catherine Hornaday; and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by a son, Sonny Freer (Marilyn) of Jasper; three daughters: Shelby Brandon of Sherwood, Susan Freer of Little Rock, and Kathy Hardman (Jerry) of Kingsland; seven grandchildren: Robin Brandon Noles (Carroll) of Pine Bluff, Lisa Freer Kuykendall (Lee) of Malvern, Lora Brandon Rice (Paul) of North Little Rock, Mark Freer (Stephenie) of Malvern, Charlotte Freer Thomas (Michael) of Jasper, Leigh Hardman Adams (Chad) of Fordyce, and Clint Hardman (Katy) of Bryant; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brother, Earl Freer of Ivan; three sisters: Annette Temple (Van) of Warren, Carol Richardson of Menifee, CA, and Joyce Gray of Fordyce; a sister-in-law, Sue Freer of Fordyce; and twenty-one nieces and nephews.

The funeral services will be held in the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Rice, Bro. Jerry Hardman, and Bro. Rick Bolin officiating. The burial services will be held at Garner Cemetery.
