Mrs. Sarah Frances Garrett, age 84 of Owingsville, passed away Friday evening, January 22, 2016 at her home. She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on October 21, 1931 to the late Thomas and Mamie Vice Davis.

Mrs. Garrett was a registered nurse retiring from Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling in 2008. She graduated from Northwestern Vocational College and Morehead State University. She had worked at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington and other healthcare facilities during her training.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quiilting, sewing, crafts, traveling, camping, candy making and spending time with her family. She always enjoyed hosting her family Christmas dinner when she was able. She was a member of the Owingsville First Church of God, the WCG, the Red Hat Society and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Scott Garrett on August 29, 1971. Two sons, James Garrett and Joel Garrett. One daughter, Carolyn Belle Garrett. Five brothers, Omar Davis, Bob Davis, Harold Clay Davis, James Davis and Wayne Davis. Four sisters, Lula Green, Carrie Hutchinson, Lyda Burke and Ethel Colville.

Survivors include three sons, Gilbert (Shirley) Garrett of Mt. Sterling, John (Sue) Garrett and Scott (Linda) Garrett both of Owingsville. One daughter, Karen Garrett of Mt. Sterling. One daughter-in-law, Kathy Garrett of Mt. Sterling. One brother Billy (Anna Mae) Davis of Carlisle. Eleven Grandchildren: Bradley Scott Garrett, Anthony Thomas Garrett, John Garrett, Jr., Christopher Sons, Chatika Michelle Stull, Tranishia Garrett Mansfield, James WIlliam Garrett, Jr., Brandi Celeste Garrett, Dustin Garrett Gillespie, Stacy Donathan and Jennifer Donathan. Eleven Great-Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Also, Special friends Norma Hart, Ollie "Kissie" Hart and her pen pal of 64 years, Mildred Owen of Gretna, Virginia.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Owingsville First Church of God with Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.

Visitation at the Owingsville First Church of God will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

Serving as Pall Bearers will be Bradley Garrett, Anthony Garrett, Brandon Garrett, Tyler Stull, David Stull, Paine Mansfield, James Garrett, Jr., John Garrett, Jr.

Honorary Bearers will be Chuck Kessler, Gary Whitt, James Holt, Shawn Tolle and Steve Butcher.
