Paul Bigsby Hale, 89 of Memphis, Missouri passed away at his home in Memphis, Missouri on Saturday, January 23, 2016.

The son of Lewis Elmer and Lucille (Ketchum) Hale, he was born in Kirksville, Missouri on October 2, 1926.

On February 1, 1945 in Lancaster, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Middleton and to this union nine children were born, Diane, Dennis, Lannie, L. H., Paula, Tom, Jan, Beth Ann and Nancy.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary Alice Hale of Memphis, Missouri; his children, Diane Lee and husband, Rollie of Barry, Illinois, Dennis Hale and wife, Dana of Concord, North Carolina, Lannie Hale and wife, Barbara of Windsor Heights, Iowa, L. H. Hale and wife, Vickie of Kansas City, Missouri, Paula Wendling and husband, Gary of Kahoka, Missouri, Tom Hale and wife, Vietta of Centralia, Missouri, Jan Adams of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Beth Ann Johnson and husband, Mike of Memphis, Missouri and Nancy Kapfer and husband, Carl of Memphis, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and many good friends.

His parents and one son-in-law, Tim Adams, precede Paul in death.

On May 2, 1945, Paul was inducted into the United States Army serving during World War II until his honorable discharge on July 8, 1946. Following his discharge from the United States Army, he became involved in farming as a grain and livestock farmer for a number of years.

The Scotland County VFW Post 4958 will conduct military rites at the church at the conclusion of the memorial services. The cremains will be interred at a later date as the body has been cremated.
