Jerry was employed as a hammer mill operator in a forge shop, manufacturing aircraft parts in the Chicago area, where he resided many years. In addition to that he was diverse in many other enterprises until retirement. He and wife Betty moved back to their farm in Kentucky from Bridgeview, Illinois in July 1997.

Jerry was the son of the late Marie Christine (nee Holder) and Watha Caroll Mills. He was married twice; first to Sharon and then divorced, and second to Betty Jean Sanders. He was preceded in death by both parents, wife Betty; two sisters, Dorothy Caroline Cox and Amelia Ruth Alexander; four brothers, Harold Thomas Mills, Stanley Leroy Mills, Billy Joe Mills and Kenneth G. "Boone" Mills; and one stepdaughter Jacqueline Hamblin.

Jerry is survived by his son Gerald Mills Jr.; brother, Larry Wayne Mills; two sisters; Pam Romano, and Debbie Mills; and step children that he raised as his own; Ellis Hines Jr, Danny Hines, Diane D'Angerio, Patricia Friedsam, Edward Stoker; eleven grandchildren, Katie Santtangelo, Eric Mills, Alex Mills, Sara Friedsam, Anton C. Friedsam II, Genna Hines, Edward F. Stoker, Shannon Morrison, Jay Stoker, Jerry Hamblin, James D. Hambin Jr., nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was his own man, forthcoming with sound advice, a man with courage who spoke from experience. Jerry was a mentor to his many nieces and nephews, as well as other young folks.

Mr. Gerald W. Mills, age 73, of Almo, Kentucky died at 3:45pm Friday, January 22, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Mills was born on November 26, 1942 to the late Watha Caroll Mills and Marie Christine Holder Mills. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty; stepdaughter, Jacqueline Hamblin; sisters, Dorothy Carol Cox & Amelia Ruth Alexander; brothers, Harold Thomas Mills, Stanley Leroy Mills, Billy Joe Mills, and Kenneth G. Mills.

He is survived by his son, Gerald Mills, Jr.; stepdaughters, Dianne Hines and Patricia Stoker; stepsons, Ellis Hines, Jr., Danny Hines, and Edward Stoker; sisters, Pam Romano and Debbie Mills; brother, Larry Wayne Mills; eleven grandchildren, Katie Santangelo, Eric Mills, Alex Mills, Sarah Friedsam, Tony Friedsam, Jr., Edward Stoker, Jr., Jay Stoker, Shannon Stoker, James Hamblin, Jerry Hamblin, & Gena Dangerio; and several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

The funeral service will be at 7:00pm Sunday at the Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home with Lee Mills officiating and private burial will be in the St. Henry's Catholic Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 3:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday at the Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home.
