Greg Miller, age 53, of Mishawaka, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend passed away at his home on January 20, 2016 after a sudden illness.
Greg was born on October 12, 1962 in Kentucky, and raised in Mishawaka by Harry and Stella Wellman, whom he called mom and dad, both of whom preceded him in death.
On December 10, 1983, he married the former Jane Hoffman of Mishawaka. He is survived by his wife Jane; a brother, Greg Vincent Wellman of Mishawaka; two sisters-in-law, Ann Ward and Debbie Wellman both of Mishawaka; two brothers-in-law, Steven Ward and David Hoffman both of Mishawaka; four nieces, Elizabeth McCloskey, April Ward, Lindsay Hall, and Sara Miller; six nephews, Antonio (A.J.) Meribela, Brian Miller, Forrest Wellman (Laura Buttry), Harry Wellman (Nicole Sly), Ian Hall, and Matthew Ward; and ten great nieces and nephews, Alayna, Alex, Benjamin, Carleigh, Cody, Yasmine, Jeremy, Lilyana, Mayzie, and Parker. He was preceded in death by his nephew Jason McCloskey.
Although he was taken too soon, Greg lived a full life. He worked as an electrician at IBEW 153. He enjoyed attending the Indianapolis 500 on Memorial Day weekend, and loved music, especially the guitar and harmonica. He also loved playing with his dog Gus and cat Ollie.
His favorite hobby was ice fishing, so this time of year was very special to him. If the ice was willing, he could almost always be found fishing on a local lake, and, if the ice was not, he would frequently take trips to Minnesota and other northern states to pursue his hobby. Whenever he had a successful day, Greg would often post pictures on Facebook of himself and the fish he caught.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 24th from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Memorial/Remembrance Service will be held on the same date and location at 5:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 25th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Church, Mishawaka. Father Terry will officiate.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614.
