Lucille Richstatter Barrett, 87, died at her home at Goodwin House, Alexandria, Virginia, on Sunday, January 3, 2010 of congestive heart failure.

Born and raised in St. Marys, Kansas, Lucille moved to Baltimore in 1965 when her late husband, Harle, joined the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

A member of Resurrection Parish in Ellicott City, she was appreciated for her active community involvement, especially in the cause of social justice.

Lucille is survived by her sister, Florence Haislmaier; her brother, Bernard Richstatter; her five children: Christina Moss, Philip Barrett, Richard Barrett, Jane Barrett and Barbara Foster; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many relatives across the country.

A memorial service will take place at the Goodwin House Chapel, 4800 Fillmore Avenue, Alexandria, VA at 3 pm on Wednesday, January 5th. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1427 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA at 11 am on Thursday, January 6th with the burial to follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Howard County, Maryland.

Instead of flowers, the family welcomes contributions in Lucille's memory to the Fellowship Program of the Goodwin House Foundation.
