NOTE: The spelling of Lydia's maiden name varies from Copland to Copeland in her records. Her father's gravestone spells it Copland, yet his mother's and sister's gravestones are Copeland. After much research, Copeland was found to be most frequently used.

Lydia and William led heart-wrenching lives according to the family trees on Ancestry.com. They list many Phipps children who died in infancy or as toddlers but are undocumented in birth or death. They are included here to honor the extreme grief this family must have experienced, as apparently, only one child survived to adulthood.
