Virginia Mae McCoy, age 87, of Chanute, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Chanute.

Virginia was born on November 18, 1928 in Erie, KS the daughter of Lewis B. and Grace E. (Mahar) Lowe. Virginia was born and raised on a farm north of Erie, KS.

She graduated from Erie High School and attended NCCC after the death of her husband in 1982.

Virginia was joined in marriage to Dewey McCoy on January 12, 1946.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Chanute and a member of the Mother’s Club.

Virginia was a great homemaker and loved her family, animals and traveling. In 1966, her son, Jay, took her on a five week vacation through the western United States and western Canada. She talked about that trip for many years and it was a big highlight of her life.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Virgil and Edwin; two sisters, Alta Gard and Fern Caldwell; and her husband and love of her life Dewey.

Funeral Service will be held at the Ambassador Christian Church in Chanute on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Ambassador Christian Church from 5-7 p.m.
