Basil W. Button, 77, of Springville, died Saturday at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Born Dec. 10, 1921, in Springville Township, he was a son of the late Clinton O. and Ruby (Densmore) Button. He was a 1939 graduate of Springville High School. Before his retirement, he was employed by the County National Bank for 32 years, managing the Springville and Choconut branches, and most recently serving as vice president. Before his banking career, he was a farmer in the Springville area. He was a member of the Springville Baptist Church, the Warren Lodge 240 F & AM, Montrose, and the Irem Temple Country Club. He was former president and secretary of the Montrose Lions Club, former president of the Elk Lake School Board, and former president of the P.T.A. He was preceded in death by his son, Lewis Basil. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Jean L. Lewis; daughters, Linda Reed and Virginia Traver, Springville; Betty Jane Way, Montrose; and Pamela Grick, Birchardville; sister, Joan Decker, Laceyville; brother, Malcolm, Springville, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Bartron Funeral Home Inc., Montrose, with the Rev. Thomas Rodway and the Rev. James Shay officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dialysis Unit, Robert Packer Hospital, 1 Guthrie Square, Sayre, 18840.-----
