Opal Smith Price, 95, of Blue Ridge Village in Martinsville, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. She was born on April 4, 1920 to Robert Lee and Annie Mae Smith. She grew up in the Horsepasture community and graduated from Ridgeway High School.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, and one grandson.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey H. Price of Blue Ridge Manor in Martinsville, a brother, Howard L. Smith of Double Springs, Alabama; a son, Aubrey H. Price of Collinsville, and a grandson, the Very Reverend David R. Price of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She received a LPN certificate at Patrick Henry Community College and worked as a nurse at Memorial Hospital and in private duty.
She was a founding member of the Villa Heights Baptist Church where she served in a variety of positions over many years. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the Church at 150 Corse Ave. Martinsville VA 24112.
A private service for family members will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at McKee Stone Funeral Home with Reverend Keith Spangenberg officiating [Funeral Home announcement]
