Born in McDowell County to the late John and Ella Jane Hemphill McNeely, she was a retired grocery store owner and homemaker. She was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was the wife of the late Howard N. Wise.
Surviving are one son, James O. Wise and wife, Bonnie of Athens, Ga.; one sister, Georgia Taylor of Marion, N.C.; five grandchildren: Sharon L. Anderson, Sandra K. Wise, Donna L. Strack, Linda J. McKenzie and James O. Wise, Jr.; eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 O'clock Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Glenwood United Methodist Church, Glenwood, N.C. Rev. Jack Bridges and Rev. William Ruff will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 at Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion, N.C. where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
