Betty Jane Bly was born March 7, 1929 near Deer River, MN to Patrick (Ambrose) & Alice Hennager. The family moved to a home in the Spring Valley area. When Betty was 5 years old she went to live with Hallie and Bessie Bly on their neighboring farm south of Spring Valley.
On September 2, 1953 she married Elmer George Bly in Spring Valley, MN.
They farmed north of Spring Valley for many years. Elmer was also a stone mason and Betty worked along side building stone fireplaces, walls and gate posts. Betty was an avid horseback rider frequently camping and trail riding in Forestville State Park and even as far away as South Dakota & Missouri. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Spring Valley Flower Club. She also took up painting later in life.
Betty is survived by her children, Gary (Kathy) Bly, Danny (Kim) Bly & Linda Bly all of Spring Valley MN. Grand children, Amanda (Ryan) Kaster in Spring Valley, MN, Cassondra Bly in Columbus GA, Austin Bly of Spring Valley, Nicholas Bly in Mankato MN & Karli Bly in Winona, MN. A brother, Tom Hennager of Madelia, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers & sisters.
Family and friends are invited to come to an informal celebration of life gathering from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday January 30, 2016 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley to reminisce and share stories of Betty.
