Thompsonville - John A. Buntin, 84, of Thompsonville died Sunday morning, Oct. 19, 2003, at his home. Funeral services and Masonic services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Eddie Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday to the Morton & Johnson Funeral Home in Benton. Mr. Buntin was born on July 22, 1919, in Franklin County, where he lived his entire life. He was the son of James Madison and Minnie (Craine) Buntin. He married Beulah (Lipe) Buntin on Sept. 21, 1940, and she survives. Mr. Buntin was a retired coal miner and farmer. He was a former Franklin County Board member, Eastern Township supervisor and Akin School Board member. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Buntin of Thompsonville, two daughters, Carolyn John and husband, Al, of Sycamore, and Shirley Jilek and husband, Robert, of Woodlawn; one son, Dr. C. Scott Buntin and wife, Karen, of Monument, Colo.; five grandchildren, Kerry, Robin, Amanda, Amy and John ; one great-granddaughter, Jaylynne; and one brother, James Buntin of Macedonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
