John Howard Slagle aged 75 years and eight days, a life-long resident of Boggs Township, died Sunday, May 5, 1935 at 4:30 p.m. at his home following a four month's illness. He was the last member of a family of 19.

Mr Slagle was born on April 27, 1860 at Orr Hill Furnace, the son of the late Abraham and Christina (Bowser) Slagle. He was united in marriage in 1884 to Florence best, who passed away in 1888. To this union, two children were born, one of whom, O.J. Slagle survives. On February 25, 1892 he was united in marriage to Annie Kimmel, to whom 10 children were born, nine of whom survive.

Mr. Slagle is survived by his wife Annie Slagle, and the following children: O.J. Slagle, Merrell Slagle and Robert Slagle, all of Kittanning; Jared Slagle, Herbert Slagle and Mrs Earl Walls, all of Mosgrove; Mrs Oscar Spencer, Mrs. Clark Trithart, and Mrs Harry Slagle of Ford City; and Alf Slagle of Parkers Landing. Fifty one grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also survive. One grandchild John Reedy makes his home with his grandparents. Funeral services will be held at the late home Thursday, May 8 at 2:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. Walter Kennedy. Interment will be in the Cochran Cemetery.
