Rebecca Ann (Houser) Fisher, age 68, passed January 11, 2016 at her home in Apple Valley, CA in the presence of her family. Rebecca was born October 12, 1947 in Churchville, VA to Elmer and Maxine (Lambert) Houser.
She was known to family and friends as "Becky". She attended Churchville Elementary, Sunday school and services at Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, Graduate of Buffalo Gap High School, 1969 Bachelor of Science Graduate Madison College, Master's Degree and Doctorate's Degree issued by the state of California. She retired in 2004 after a long career as a librarian, teacher and administrator. Rebecca remained active in retirement, volunteering with the Victorville, CA Friends of the Library, serving at The Community Church at Jess Ranch, CA and participating in meetings and outings with The Red Hat Society. Above all, she dedicated her time to her family and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a strong, generous and intelligent woman who was an amazing mother and grandmother.
Rebecca is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Christy Newman of Hesperia, CA, son and daughter-in-law, Parker and Wendy Newman of Bakersfield, CA, brother and sister-in-law, John David and Donna Houser of Churchville, VA, grandchildren: Riley, Jacob, Mason, Marshall, Lincoln and Mackenna of CA, nephew Dr. Jeremy Houser of Chilmark, MA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Maxine Houser and by her son, John Morgan Newman.
A memorial service in remembrance of Rebecca will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 at Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, 17 Buffalo Gap Hwy., Churchville, VA. An earlier celebration of Rebecca's life will be held January 22, 2016 at The Community Church at Jess Ranch, Apple Valley, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to the Victorville Friends of the Library, Victorville, CA.
