Mrs. Betty Olive Norma (Stone) Contadini, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.
Mrs. Contadini was born on March 18, 1925, in Sydney, Australia, daughter of the late Bertie and Harriet (Gubbins) Stone.
In 1944, she married Carl in Sydney while he was stationed there during WWII. After two years of marriage, Betty took a five week long (solo) journey aboard a naval troop ship to come to the United States, to meet her new family.
Betty is pre-deceased by her husband Carl F. Contadini, her brothers Herbert and Nester Stone and sisters Maude Spencer and Doris Patterson of Sydney, Australia.
Betty is survived by her son and daughter in-law Carl and Leslie of Goshen, CT, daughter and son in-law Catherine and Thomas of Terryville, CT with whom she resided, her granddaughters Sherri and Kara, both of Goshen, CT, her great grandchildren Hayden, Anne, Kendall, Grant and Henry, and her sisters Joyce and Patricia of Sydney, Australia. She is also survived by her brother and sister in-law Michael and Carmela of Wolcott, CT.
The funeral will be held Tuesday Jan. 19th, 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville. Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may call at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville one hour prior to the service.
