Lawrence Tripp, 80, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2009 at 2:15 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Lawrence was born April 11, 1929 in Stonefort the son of Lawrence C. & Jeanette Dessie (Purnell) Adams. He married Carrie Hungate on June 9, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas and together they have shared over 58 years of marriage.

Lawrence retired from the V.A. Medical Center after 38 years and then worked as a security guard for the Marion Memorial Hospital for 10 years. He proudly answered the call to serve his country in the Army during WWII. From 1978 -1979 he was Commander of VFW Post #1301 where he was a lifetime member. Lawrence was a 32nd degree Mason of the Consistory of Belleville, a member of Marion Masonic Fellowship Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M., Williamson County Shrine Club, Ainad Temple of East St. Louis, American Legion Post #147, Eks BPOE #800 and Parrish Park Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by;

Funeral services will be Friday, September 25, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 7:30 P.M. by Marions Masonic Fellowship Lodge #89 A.F. & A.M., followed by a walk through by the Williamson County Shrine Club.

For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market, P.O. Box 39, Marion, Illinois 62959.
