Frederick Eugene Wolfe, age 81, passed away on January 19, 2016 at St Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis due to complications from Pneumonia.

Fred was born on March 7, 1934 at Ball Hospital and was the son of Hobert H. and Anna M. Ruede Wolfe and until 2014 was a life-long resident of Delaware County. In February of 2014 he and his wife of 56 years, Martha C. Wolfe, moved to the Noblesville/Westfield area to be closer to family.

He attended Garfield Elementary, Wilson Junior High and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1952.

After graduation from high school he attended Ball State Teachers College where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Social Studies with a minor in English.

Fred began a career in teaching at Jackson Indiana Township School near Union City in 1956-57. He taught for 3 years at Daleville Junior-Senior High School and retired after 30 years of service from Wilson Middle School in Muncie where he taught 7th & 8th Grade English. His passion for teaching students was evident every year around Christmas when he taught Charles Dickens, “A Christmas Carol” in the classroom. He delighted in hearing from students as they progressed through school and graduated by receiving letters many years after attending Wilson who cited remembering “A Christmas Carol” as a fond memory of school.

Fred served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59. He was stationed with the 26th Military Police Company at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis.

He served 4 years as a member of the Delaware Community School Board and was a member of DeMolay International where he served in various capacities.

Fred and his wife were long time members of College Avenue United Methodist Church and members of the Ball Hospital Auxiliary.

Wolfe (wife Jodi) of Noblesville, Indiana; four grandchildren, Ben Reed (wife Lauren), Tyler Reed (fiancé Abbie), Sarah Wolfe and Joe Wolfe.
