Husband of Sarah L. nee Scholl. Son of Daniel & Hannah (Steckel) Hagenbuch.

History of Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, and a Genealogical and Biographical Record of Its Families; Charles Rhoads Roberts, John Baer Stoudt, Thomas H. Krick, William Joseph Dietrich, Lehigh valley publishing Company, Limited, 1914, Volume II, Page 489:

"Stephen, was killed on the homestead while building a new barn; he married Sarah Sholl, who now resides in Moorestown."

The Allentown Morning Call (Allentown, PA), Tuesday, June 13, 1905, page 5:

"Stephen Hagenbuch, a prominent farmer at Moorestown, a cousin of the late William R. Lawfer, met death in a peculiar manner Friday. His barn needing some repairs, he invited the neighbors to help him. They responded as neighbors should. A rope and chain were placed around the barn to draw it together. As a party tugged to draw them taut, the chain broke and seven men fell on a heap, Mr. Hagenbuch underneath. The man above him landed heavily with the point of his elbow on Mr. Hagenbuch's stomach. The injury resulted fatally. He leaves his wife, one son, and two daughters. Funeral Tuesday morning at the Moorestown Church, Rev. J. E. Smith officiating."
