Bergitte "Bertha" (Ness) Cummins
Mrs. Bertha Cummins, 83, Eleva Rt. 1, died Monday afternoon (May 1, 1978) at Buffalo County Memorial Hospital, Mondovi.
Bergitte "Bertha" was born Oct. 15th, 1894 to Gjertrud Johnsd. Harang and Ellef Jonasson Ness. She was the youngest of 7 children.
She married Jesse Kay Cummins on April 12, 1922 in San Francisco, CA. They had two children: Ronald Kay and Gertrude Aileen. They traveled often due to Jesse's military service, however did eventually separate and later divorced on Dec. 4, 1936. She kept her married name, Cummins after divorce.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellef and Gjertrud; siblings, Anna, Ragna, Ingval, Joseph, Elmer, and Sever.
Survived by her son, one daughter, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services at the Eleva Lutheran Church where Bertha was a lifelong member. Interment in the Ness Family Plot at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Strum.
