Cayce – Lee Walton Barton, 52, of Cayce, died Monday, January 18, 2016. Born in Augusta, GA, on June 27, 1963, he was a son of Ralph and Frankie Walton Barton.

Lee graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and attended The University of South Carolina. Following college he began working with his father-in-law, the late Stanley Goodwin, at Goodwin Motor Service and assumed ownership of the business following Mr. Goodwin’s death. Lee was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school. He was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends, though, his passion was riding his Harley Davidson.

In addition to his parents, Lee is survived by his wife, Beth Goodwin Barton; his son: James Glenn Barton of Cayce; daughter: Kara Anne Barton (Matthew Johns) of Lexington; granddaughter: Kaylee; siblings: Ed Barton (Terri), Frank Barton (Kathryn) and Nancy Atkinson (David); as well as nieces and nephews: Dylan, Hannah, Davey, Katie and Ivey.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Saturday, January 23rd, at Providence Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. Michael T. Bragan officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Extension, Columbia. Memorials may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church, 1112 Hummingbird Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169.
