Burial will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cypress, Calif.
Wilma passed away Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 19, 2016, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa.
Wilma H. (Besser) Potter-Caryl was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Brewster, Minn., the youngest child of Fred and Mary (Gerdes) Besser. She attended public school in Brewster and became proficient at sewing, canning, gardening, cooking, and baking in her early years during the great depression. Wilma always felt blessed as a child growing up in a home with self-sufficient and hard-working parents.
Wilma was united in marriage to Lloyd A. Potter in Kanaraville, Utah, on May 25, 1940. They made their home in Worthington, Minn., where she worked by Lloyd's side at Lloyd's Shoe Repair, managed their home, and raised five children. They moved to southern California to re-establish their home and business in 1966. Wilma provided daycare in their home for the next 20 years.
Hardworking as she was, Wilma enjoyed spending time with family and friends and creating ceramic items, porcelain dolls, leather tooling, and crafts.
Widowed in 1985, Wilma married Amos D. Caryl on Oct. 25, 1987, at Knott Avenue Christian Church in Anaheim, Calif. Wilma and Amos enjoyed family, friends, church involvement, and traveling worldwide for 12 years until Amos became disabled. Wilma returned to Minnesota following Amos' death in 2005.
