Grace Amy Lambert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. WilliamT. Lambert, the sixth child of a family of eight, was born near Adrian, Hancock County, Illinois, January 26, 1885.

Her childhood and young womanhood was spent in the township in which she was born, with the exception of two years which were spent in school at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She taught three years in her home district.

She was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by J.S. Roth in the fall of 1895, and remained a staunch defender of this faith until the end.

Deceased was married to Brierley J. Stevenson, January 2, 1907, and they immediately went to housekeeping on a farm nearby where they lived until the spring of 1912 when they moved near Fairfield, Iowa. In the spring of 1924, they moved near Lamoni. For the past ten years, they have made their home on the farm where she passed away, six miles west of Lamoni.

Mrs. Stevenson was in usual health until November 1924 when she was ill for two or three weeks but had apparently rallied quite nicely and was doing her usual work, when on Sunday, February 1, she was again stricken with severe suffering. She was taken to the sanitarium at independence, Missouri, where an operation was performed in the hope of prolonging her life but to no avail, as she developed pneumonia Saturday and she passed to a well-earned reward Sunday morning, February 8.

Mrs. Stevenson was a natural home builder, always ready to sacrifice her own pleasures and privileges that her family might have greater opportunity of advancement. Her interest did not stop at the home, however, but reached to church and community where she spent much time and labor for the betterment of both. Her loss will be keenly felt by the entire community.

Deceased leaves beside her companion four children, Vesta aged 10, Verlyn 13, Hale 11, and Wanita 6. Also a stepmother, Mrs. Mary Lambert of Carthage, III., three brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Anna Byers, Escatada, Oreg.; Arthur, Viceroy, Sask., Canada; Clarence, Sigourney, Iowa; Millard and Mrs. Irene Carlile of Ferris, Ill., and Mrs. Elma Quivey of Clayton, Ill.

A short service was held at the house Tuesday forenoon at 9:30, and the main service at the brick church in Lamoni at 2:30, at which Elder J.S. Roth offered prayer, and Elder I.G. Holloway delivered the sermon. Mrs. C. E. Wight sang "Leave it with Him" accompanied by Mrs. W. E. Prall and there were also quartet numbers by Miss Mabel Carlile, Mrs. C. E. Wight, C. E. Wight, and Edward Wells.

Remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill. The following out-of-town relatives attended the funeral: Mrs. G. E. Carlile, Ferris, Ill., sister of deceased; her brother C. J. Lambert and wife of Sigourney, Iowa; D. R. and P. Stevenson, Mrs. Ed Grotts and Mrs. Will Thomas all of Ferris, Ill, brothers and sisters of Mr. Stevenson, and Miss Florence Stevenson of Independence, Mo., a cousin.
