NEWPORT NEWS - Leonard F. Attig, 78 died Friday, July 26, in his home.

He was a native of Altoona, Pa., and a Peninsula resident for 50 years.

He retired as a civil service engineering inspector from Fort Eustis in 1973 after 20 years of service. He was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Jean M. Attig; two stepdaughters, Sara Herring of Houston, Texas and Priscilla Dooley of Mathews; one stepson, Walter Price of Lafayette, La.; four sisters, Ann Rogers of Newport News, Marjorie Has of Tampa, Fla., Shirley Linbeck of Fairfax, and Jean Hurd of Williamsburg, Pa.; one brother, John Attig of Catkill, N.Y.; and one grandchild.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Peninsula Memorial Park by Father Don Michael Hanna.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 9624 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Va., 23601.

Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge.
