Clara Lucille Morrow Green, 71, a Fort Worth native, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, after a difficult battle with cancer. Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Lucille was born in Fort Worth on Aug. 16, 1944, to Lawrence Morrow and Clara Marie Denham Morrow. A 1962 graduate of Paschal High School and 1966 graduate of Texas Christian University, she was an active member of her community and lifelong member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church, Fort Worth. After graduating from TCU in 1967 with a BA in education, Lucille married David Bentley Green of Richland Hills. She began teaching in the Fort Worth Independent School District. David's work soon took the newlyweds to Houston, where Lucille continued her teaching career in the Spring Branch Independent School District, teaching sixth-grade English until 1975. She also worked as assistant to the director of the South Campus of Valencia Community College in Orlando in the late 1980s. Lucille grew up as a member of Campfire Girls of America and remained a Camp Fire Girl through college, with a memorable trip to Europe as a chaperone. She continued her involvement in Camp Fire when she became a group leader for her daughters. Lucille and David shared a common love for sea shells and were members of the Houston Conchology Society, Sea Shell Searchers of Brazoria County, Astronaut Trail Shell Club in Melbourne, Fla., San Diego Shell Club and The Central Florida Shell Club of Orlando where she served as president 1989-1990. Lucille was the recipient of numerous major awards for scientific shell displays including The DuPont, given by the DuPont Museum of Natural Science of Wilmington, Del., and Best Exhibit Award, given by The Conchologist of America. Lucille also received numerous awards for shell crafts and shell-related needlework. She went on to serve on the board of directors for the Conchologists of America and was COA convention chairman in Houston in 2000. She also was honored with the annual COA Neptune Award for outstanding service in 2013. For a brief period in the early 1980s, Lucille, having received her real estate license, worked for Van Zandt Real Estate in Arlington. She was also a member of The Woman's Club of Fort Worth, Bonsoir, St. Hilda's Guild at St. Andrew Episcopal Church and various garden clubs. A creative person, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crochet, needlework, cooking and entertaining friends and family. She was also an avid collector of snail collectibles and could usually be found wearing a snail pin on her blouse or jacket. Survivors: Husband, David Bentley Green; daughters, Clara Christine Stark (Peter) and Kristen Lynn Green; granddaughter, Clara Kathryn Stark; and sister, Anne Elizabeth Curd.
