Born September 16, 1930, at Gilbert, he was a son of the late Lloyd "Chap" Ellis (1904-1980) and Bertha Gladys Snodgrass-Ellis (1908-Deceased). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert Gerald Ellis Sr. (1927-2014), Donald Ellis (1932-Deceased), Ivan Eugene “Buck” Ellis Sr. (1934-2011), Clayton "Pate" Ellis (1937-Deceased), and John Davis “Davy” Ellis (1936-Deceased).
Harry was a graduate of Gilbert High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a retired coal miner, employed with Amherst Coal. Harry will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step-children: Roger (Judy) Hatfield of Wharncliffe and Anita Hatfield of Sherrills Ford, NC.; three grandchildren, whom he adored: John Hatfield, Bridget Adams, and Stacy Hatfield; three great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy: Blake, Grace, and David; two sisters: Billie M. Ellis-Hatfield (B. 1929) of Gilbert and Mereda "Sue" Ellis-Helm (B. 1939) of Hernando, FL. Harry also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 18, 2016, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert with Rev. Gary Browning officiating. Harry will be laid to rest in the Wilson Cemetery at Justice
