George Sloan Grover Sr., 77, of Crossville, TN, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville.
He was born Jan. 21, 1938, in Hohenwald, TN, son of the late Walter Pryne Grover Sr. and Mamie (Allison) Grover. He was a resident of Crossville since 1973.
George graduated from Lewis County High School and then graduated from The University of Tennessee at Martin, located in Martin, TN, where he graduated as a professional engineer. He worked over the years as a land surveyor, draftsman, and a civil, industrial and electrical engineer.
George worked for Consolidated Aluminum Company in New Johnsonville, TN, and Gulf Coast Aluminum Company in Lake Charles, LA. He also worked for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens, AL, the Huntsville Nuclear Plant in Huntsville, TN, and then for 25 years at TVA Watts Bar Nuclear Plant near Spring City, TN.
George was an accomplished carpenter, loved corvettes and NASCAR, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan since the early 1970s.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Clara Annette Grover; son, G. Sloan Grover Jr. (Casey); daughters, Lt. Col. Lisa Ann Grover and M. Allison Brendel (Bevy); grandson, Patrick Sloan Brendel; and brother, Brown Grover, Paducah, KY.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Logan Grover, Walter P. GroverJr., Woofred "Woodsie" Grover and Borden "Bordie" Grover; and sisters, Alida Goodman and Ann Nickles.
Funeral services were held at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Greg Williams officiating. Interment in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
