Karen Sue Kidd, age 59, of Tampico passed away at 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016.
She was a member of Tampico Baptist Church. She retired from K-Mart and was a Boy Scout Leader for Troops 524 and 526 in Seymour and Troop 522 in Crothersville.
Born on October 29, 1956 in Seymour, Indiana, she was the daughter of Lawrence Richard and Esther Foster Engelking, both of whom preceded her in death. On October 11, 1975, she married James “Jim” Kidd at First Marion Baptist Church and he survives in Tampico.
Survivors include one son, Steven M. (Aaron) Kidd of Seymour; two daughters, Kimberly Valentine (Jeff Williams) of Seymour and Cari L. Kidd (Bo Kidd) of Williamsburg, Kentucky; six brothers, Richard L. (Young) Engelking of Long Beach, California, Lawrence E. Engelking of Seymour, Mark (Starlene) Engelking of Seymour, Russell (Sheila) Engelking of Jeffersonville, Herbert (Vickie) Engelking of Seymour and James (Melinda) Engelking of North Vernon; one sister, Anita (Matt) Engleking of Seymour; six grandchildren, Taylor Valentine, Brianna Valentine, CJ (Chad, Jr.) Valentine, Jacob Woodall, Zoë Queen and Calleigh Kidd.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Chad Valentine.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Tampico Baptist Church or the Dementia Discovery Fund.
