Hortense-Lindol Elzie Crews, 71 of Hortense, passed away Tuesday morning (January 19, 2016) at Wayne Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Hortense, GA., his parents were Elzie Elvin Crews and Geneva Crews. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lee Crews.

Mr. Crews worked many years in Road Maintenance for the City of Franklin. He attended Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church, and enjoyed working, riding horses, fishing, making jewelry and fishing lures, he was an expert knife thrower, and loved animals, his grandchildren and family.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Elzie and Sandra Crews, of Folkston; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and Felton Manning, of Hortense, and Hazel and Jeff Bishop, of Atkinson. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday (January 22, 2016) at 4PM at Twin Rivers Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jack Sinclair officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, at the cemetery.
