Barbara J. Beebe, 82, Eau Claire, died Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., on March 23, 1924, the daughter of Ole and Myrtle (Karm) Flaten. Her hobbies included reading and embroidering. She made the best homemade biscuits and bread. She also made wonderful sauerkraut.

Survivors include her beloved niece, best friend and caregiver, Pauline Thompson of Eau Claire; seven sons, Charles L. (Patricia) McDermott of Wascott, Wis., Donald S. Novak, Allan E. (Jan Ressel) Novak, Kenneth J. Novak, Raymond W. Beebe, Dale R. (Tonya) Beebe and Randal E. Beebe, all of Eau Claire; four daughters, Joan E. (Larry) Aubart of Chippewa Falls, Eva M. Novak of Eau Claire, Judy A. Laflin of Mondovi and Tammy J. Davis of Eau Claire; a brother, Donald (Sally) Flaten of Superior; a sister, Eunice Helmer of Duluth, Minn.; four stepchildren, Delbert (Barbara) Beebe of Rock Falls, Gerald W. (Helen) Beebe of Strum, Larry D. (Sue) Beebe of Colfax and Sue Ann (Dean) Linse of Mondovi. She is further survived by 48 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Novak; her parents; her grandson, Leonard A. Brantner; three sisters, Bernice E. Flaten, Lorraine M. Hack and Correne A. Grymala; her stepdaughter, Nancy Lunderville; and her stepson, Glyn Beebe.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Stokes & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy. (Hwy. 12 East) in Altoona, and on Sunday an hour before services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
