Jeanette Y. Welch, 68, Independence, Kansas passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Webb & Rodrick, the family will greet visitors on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and may be left with the Chapel.
Jeanette was born August 10, 1947 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Toby T. and Phyllis M. (Meyer) Curtis. Jeanette grew up in Independence, Kansas and graduated from Independence High School. Jeanette married Richard “Tiger” Allen Welch on January 8, 1972 and the couple made their home in Independence where they raised three children. Jeanette was employed by H&R Block as a Tax Specialist for 40 years. Jeanette was a member of the V.F. W. Ladies Auxiliary and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard “Tiger” Allen Welch, Survivors include two sons, Rich Welch and wife Bev, Cincinnati, OH; Marc Welch and wife Melisa, Independence, KS; one daughter Lori Welch, Independence, KS; and the lights of her life her three grandchildren, Gage Welch, Jaci Mae Welch and Jackson Welch.
Jeanette will be remembered as a social butterfly who never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a warm inviting smile and a big hug.
