Edward J. (Ed) Urbanek, age 62, lifelong resident of Two Rivers, died peacefully early Sunday morning, January 17, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side. Ed was born in Two Rivers on July 10, 1953, to the late Donald and Marian (Strong) Urbanek. He attended St. Luke's Grade School, and Washington High School in Two Rivers, graduating with the class of 1972. On August 16, 1975, he married Kathryn A. Last at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ed worked for Hamilton Mfg. Co. of Two Rivers for many years; he was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church and proud supporter of St. John's Lutheran School, where he was a longtime basketball coach, also assistant coach of other sports, and served as athletic director. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed golfing in league, as well as playing several of the area golf courses; and he truly enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his two granddaughters.Survivors include is wife, Katie; son and daughter-in-law, Edward D. and Beki Urbanek of Two Rivers; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Dave Kluenker of Branch; and his three grandchildren: Aubri Urbanek, Lexi and Austin Kluenker. He is further survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jerry Rogers of Shoto; sister-in-law, Susan Last of Madison; one niece, Elizabeth Gilbert-Rogers & her husband, Wayne of Two Rivers; and one nephew, Matthew Rogers of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father & mother-in-law, Donald and Janice Last.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 17th & East Park St. Two Rivers. Rev. David Arndt will officiate at the service, with burial in Forest View Cemetery at a later date.
