Jacob "Jake" Carl Garrison grew up in Pea Green and graduated from Olathe High School in May of 1951. He attended boot camp in San Diego, Calif., and traveled to Japan, Korea and China, as well as many other places during the course of his service. After his discharge, Jake returned home obtained his degree in range management and forestry from Mesa College in July of 1954. Jake was able to travel and see many places while he worked for the USDA as an ergonomist. Jake retired in 1974 and returned home to Pea Green, where he lived and ran the family farm until November 2010, when he moved to Olathe to live with his nephew Shane, and his family.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Lydia Garrison, one sister Eva June, and a brother George. He is survived by his nephews Shane (Lauri) Garrison, David Evans and Darwin (Deborah ) Warfield, and nieces Kathy (Steve) Woolsey, Kim (Chuck) Perschbacher, Sheyrl Garrison, and Sheila (Jeff) Miller, as well as 12 great-nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.

At Jake's request, there will not be a funeral service. There will be a celebration of life that will be held at the Pea Green Community Hall on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Delta Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 24, Delta, CO 81416.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
