Mr. Douglas Leo Woods, age 82, a native of Deer Park, AL, and a resident of Vinegar Bend, AL, was born Jan. 8, 1934 to the parentage of the late Earl Franklin Woods and Olivia Collins Woods. He departed this life January 16, 2016 at his home.

“Dougie”, as he was affectionately called, was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, Deer Park. Earlier in life, he served as a deacon and financial secretary. He retired as a manager at Wholesale Warehouse in Mobile, AL.

In his addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Mae Cooper Woods, and two brothers, Earl Woods and Clarence Woods.

He is survived by his daughter, Tara Woods (Anthony) Bell of Birmingham, AL; one sister, Naomi Miller of Dorchester, MA; two grandchildren, Edricos Bell and Taylon Bell, and one great-granddaughter, Alexia Woods-Bell, all of Birmingham, AL.

Viewing Saturday, January 23, 2016, 10am until the 11am service at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1591 Deer Park Burbank Rd., Deer Park, AL; Rev. Larry Bolton, pastor. Following military rites at graveside, burial will be in the church cemetery.
