Caroline Alice Brennan was born 11 June 1896 in Boulder, Colorado. She was the youngest of six daughters born to Lawrence and Lenna Giggey Brennan. She came with her family from Boulder to Bellingham in 1902 and lived in the city, until the last few years of her life when she moved to Ballard, Washington to live with her daughter, Barbara, then to a convalescent home, where she passed away in Seattle. She married LeRoy Vance Eager on 18 Jul 1917 in Bellingham. Barbara Eager Savidge was their only child. Vance and Alice divorced and Alice never remarried. She spent her entire career as a teacher, most of it at Harmony Elementary on the Everson-Goshen Road out in the county.
Alice came from a family of very high character, and she carried it out in her own life. She was always found with a smile and positive attitude and looked at the best in people.
Alice's mother died when she was 8 years old, and her older sister Grace took on the role of the mother-figure, helping their father with income and keeping the home. Despite the hardship in the home, all of the Brennan girls were known for their integrity, grew to serve much in the community with significant leadership in teaching in the public schools.
