On January 26, 1943, Freddie Lee King was born to the union of Fred Andrew and Lorena Josephine King. Fred Andrew was born in Alabama, but raised in Adlerson, Oklahoma and worked as a meat packer as Wilson Meat Company. He met, courted and fell in love with the young and lovely Lorena Richardson of Kansas City, MO and they soon married. Both having had children from previous marriages, the birth of little Freddie Lee marked the new beginning as the first child of their union. Freddie Lee was raised in the Rosedale and Argentina areas of Southwestern Boulevard, where he resided with his parents and older sisters, Albertine “Tina” and Grace. Ten and eleven years his senior, Tina and Grace assisted in raising and spoiling their little brother, along with older step-brother James Andrew King. A number of years later, additional younger siblings Rosie Lee and Michael rounded out the King household. Freddie grew into a strong and vibrant young man. Having an ear for music, specifically the Blues, Freddie became a self-taught man harmonica player. Playing the harmonica for friends and family would soon be the staple of Freddie's passion. During his adolescent years, Freddie encountered many major events first, his father passed away leaving him and his younger sibling with their mother. He then received his first car and soon there after met the first five women in his life that would give him his greatest earthly gifts: his nine children. During the late 1960's and early 1970's Freddie fathered six of his children. He worked a short time in the meat packing industry, like his father, but soon found work in the railroad business and working for Cargill. Freddie faced numerous challenges during this time, with the passing of his mother in 1968; daughter, Victoria; and elder brother, Jim two years later and his sisters, Grace and Rosie some years after that. None the less, he found solitude with his love of music, cars and his children. A man of many talents, Freddie was known as a strong willed man, who loved hard and fought hard, just the same. He was not a perfect man, but an honest man who held no punches in life. Freddie Lee King was called home on February 21, 2012, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, at 7:06 a.m., Tuesday Morning. He leaves a legacy of love and friendship that only the Lord above can measure. He left this world of our Lord Jesus Christ, so when you think of Freddie in the coming days, remember that he loved as the Lord requires us all to love, forever and always. He is survived by: his lovely wife, Inez King; children, Lisa, Corrine, Lorraine, Freddie Jr., Robert, James, Krishanna and Dominique; grandchildren, Tyrone, Krystal, Danielle, Tyron, Toya, Jeron, Aviance, Derron, Neosha, Dalvon, Javon, Victoria, Fred, Paris, Freddie lll, Takeia, Keyshawn, Brittney, Latrice, Ashley, James ll, Kwintin, Sydney, Chasney, Clinton and Laroyal; stepdaughters, Shon and Cynthaine; sister, Albertina Green; brother, Michael King; a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Mrs. J.W. Jones Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Services conducted by Mrs. J.W. Jones Memorial Chapel.
