Richard (Dick) "Coach" McCauley, 85, of Beloit, WI, died peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born January 23, 1930 in Beloit, WI, the son of Alfred J. and Mae (Partridge) McCauley. Richard was a 1948 graduate of Beloit High School. In 1956 he received his Bachelors Degree from Beloit College in Economics and later received his Masters Degree in Mathematics and Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Richard was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1955 to attend college. He married Mary Jo Howard on March 17, 1952 in Denver, CO. Richard was formerly employed as a math teacher and head of the math department from 1956 until 1961 at Pecatonica High School. While there he coached basketball, football and wrestling. From 1961 until his retirement in 1989 he taught mathematics at Aldrich Junior High and Beloit Memorial High School. During his employment with the School District of Beloit he coached football, track and wrestling. Richard was inducted into the Beloit Historical Society Athletic Hall of Fame on February 21, 2002. He was a longtime member of Treble Clef and served as co-president with his wife. Richard was a landlord and enjoyed carpentry and remodeling. He was a dedicated Wisconsin Badger sports fan and loved the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed watching the birds.

A Memorial service for Richard held January 31, 2016 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, Beloit, WI. Inurnment will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Darlington, WI at a later date. [Beloit Daily News January 25, 2016]
